The Yaeyama Islands are 410 km southwest of the main island of Okinawa and are a subtropical group of 32 large and small, inhabited and uninhabited, islands. The total area is about one-fourth of the whole of Okinawa Prefecture, and the forest rate is about 60%. The forest area is situated right next to the northern part of the main island of Okinawa. On Ishigaki Island, which is the center of activity, mountains such as Mt (insert name of the mountain – this sentence is incomplete). It is an island rich in nature where precious flora and fauna live, such as the intriguing crested eagle.
